Delhi Liquor Policy Case Twist: CBI Challenges Kejriwal & Sisodia Acquittal in 974-Page HC Petition

New Delhi, March 2 :
CBI has filed a massive 974-page revision petition in Delhi High Court against the trial court’s February 27 order discharging all 23 accused, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, in the alleged excise policy scam. Agency calls the ruling “legally flawed” and against established procedures.

CBI’s Key Objections

Trial Judge Jitendra Singh allegedly ran a “mini-trial” at charge-framing stage, dissecting conspiracy elements separately instead of viewing them holistically. CBI argues this ignored probe depth, failed to reveal full scam picture.

Court’s recommendation for departmental action against investigating officer termed “shocking” and unwarranted. Lower court cited lack of evidence for discharge; CBI now seeks to overturn it.

Next Hearing

Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma’s bench hears arguments on March 9 post-Holi break. Outcome decides if relief for AAP leaders holds or case reignites. Probe stemmed from LG VK Saxena’s 2022 complaint alleging policy manipulation for kickbacks.
