Cheque Bounce Case: Actor Rajpal Yadav Surrenders at Tihar Jail, Says “No Money Left, No Friends”
New Delhi, February 10, 2026
The comedy king who made the world laugh, Rajpal Yadav, broke down in tears today. Following Delhi High Court’s stern reprimand in a long-standing cheque bounce case, the actor surrendered at Tihar Jail.
Visibly emotional before prison authorities, Rajpal expressed his helplessness:
“Sir, what should I do? I have no money left. I see no other way… In this industry, we’re all alone. I have no friends. I must fight this battle single-handedly.”
The Dispute (ongoing since 2010):
Loan: Rajpal borrowed ₹5 crore from ‘Murali Projects’ for film Aata Pata Lapata
Film Flop: Movie failed at box office, couldn’t repay debt
Cheque Bounce: Checks bounced due to insufficient funds, case went to court
2018 Verdict: Court convicted Rajpal & wife, sentenced 6 months jail
Escalated Debt: Legal battle + interest ballooned amount to ~₹9 crore
Court’s Warning: Tired of repeated extensions, High Court stated celebrity status doesn’t warrant leniency, ordered immediate surrender
Recently, Rajpal’s father’s properties worth crores were seized for unpaid debt. This tragedy exposes the loneliness and financial struggles behind film industry glamour.
