All India Seminar on “6G and Beyond” Begins at SLIET Longowal

Chandigarh , February 11
The two-day All India Seminar on “6G and Beyond: Shaping the Future of Wireless Communication” commenced at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal. The seminar is being organized by The Institution of Engineers (India) in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SLIET. 

The inaugural function was graced by Prof. (Dr.) A. S. Arora, Director (Incharge), SLIET Longowal, as Chief Guest. Prof. (Dr.) Tara Singh Kamal, Past Vice President, IE(I), attended as Guest of Honour, while Prof. (Dr.) Jagtar Singh Sivia, Chairman, ETDB, IE(I), addressed the gathering as a distinguished dignitary. 

Welcoming the guests and participants, Prof. (Dr.) J.S. Ubhi, Convener of the seminar, highlighted the importance of emerging wireless technologies and the need to prepare engineers for the 6G era. In his address, Prof. (Dr.) Jagtar Singh Sivia emphasized the role of innovation, research, and industry–academia collaboration in shaping the future of communication systems.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Tara Singh Kamal encouraged students and researchers to explore new frontiers in wireless technologies. The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) A. S. Arora, Director (Incharge), appreciated the initiative and stressed the significance of such seminars in enhancing technical knowledge and promoting research culture among students and faculty.

After the inaugural session, the first technical session was conducted under the chairmanship of Prof. (Dr.) Amar Partap Singh , Professor ECE Department, SLIET. The session featured an expert lecture by Dr. Manpreet Kaur from YCoE, Talwandi Sabo, followed by student paper presentations. 

The post-lunch session was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Dalip Kumar Professor (ECE), SLIET, and included an expert lecture by Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, along with further student presentations. 

The first day concluded with active participation from faculty members, researchers, and students, who discussed the latest trends and challenges in next-generation wireless communication technologies.

The seminar will continue on the second day with additional technical sessions and the valedictory function.
