S.A.S. Nagar, May 9

In light of intelligence inputs suggesting a potential air strike threat from Pakistan, the S.A.S. Nagar administration has issued strict security measures under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

The directive, issued by District Magistrate Komal Mittal, mandates a complete blackout during night hours and includes several public safety restrictions.

To prevent any exploitation of outdoor lighting that could attract drone or terror attacks, the use of inverters, generators, and solar lights for billboards, streetlights, and other outdoor illumination has been strictly banned until further orders.

The administration has also directed the closure of all cinema halls and shopping malls in the district from 8 PM to 6 AM each day as a precautionary measure.Additionally, the use of firecrackers and high-beam DJ or laser lights is strictly prohibited during evening hours.

Residents have been advised to stay indoors after dark unless there is an emergency. In the event of a siren or alert signal, citizens must follow all government-issued instructions promptly and reduce lighting to a minimum.

The order does not apply to law enforcement agencies, the armed forces, and authorized emergency personnel or essential services like hospitals. These measures will remain in effect starting May 9, 2025, and continue until further notice.
