Army, SDRF and followers of Seechewal evacuate 200 farmers from flood affected villages

Army , SDRF and followers of Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh evacuate nearly 200 persons including women and Children besides 70 cattle from worst affected villages in the Mand Areas of Sultanpurlodhi on Thursday till late in evening .

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal who along with Senior Superientendent of Police Gaurav Toora and Sant Seechewal supervised the entire rescue operation told PTI that 40 army Jawans ,SDRF teams besides followers of Seechewal saved precious Iives and shifted them to safer places and there is no human loss ..He said rescue operation is still continuing to save farmers crying for help .

Replying to a question on number of villages affected by floods, DC said exact number could be ascertained on completion of special Girdawari Which would start on receding water level in Beas river .

He expressed his happiness on decrease of water level in Beas river to 2.08 lakh cusec from 2.31 lakh cusec .

Meanwhile Seechewal who is perhaps the only Member Parliament who works tirelessly every year to save the farmers from fury of floods could be seen visiting the affected farmers in their villages to know their condition and giving relief materials from his personal funds .He announced five motor boats to five village panchayats soon from MP funds .

Seechewal also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare critical flood situation in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh as National disaster and urged for adequate compensation to affected farmers to rehabilitate them .

Meanwhile Sangra village Sarpanch Gurjit Kaur who cultivate 75 acres of land is very much upset as her entire paddy crop is submerged under 5 to eight feet of water .

Similarly farmers Piara Singh and Kuldip Singh who has sown paddy on 65 acres of land demanded compensation for their crops .

Meanwhile breach in temporary bundh raised by farmers inside dhussi bundh has further widened according official sources.
