Under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, India crushed New Zealand on March 8 to clinch T20 World Cup 2026 title. First nation to win consecutively twice, overall third time. First home win of major trophy. Final: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan’s fifties set 256; NZ all out 159.

Post-victory, ICC opened coffers. Total prize pool ₹120 crore ($13.5 million).

• India (Winners): ₹27.48 crore ($3 million)

• New Zealand (Runners-up): ₹14.65 crore ($1.6 million)

Semi-final losers England/South Africa: ₹7.24 crore each. Super-8 teams like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies: ₹3.48 crore each. Group exits: min ₹2.29 crore. All 20 teams rewarded. Victory boosts national pride and team’s finances.
