60% Public Disapproves of President Donald Trump’s Policies: Questions Raised on Tariffs and Economic Decisions
Washington/New Delhi: February 22, 2026
A fresh survey report has caused a stir regarding US President Donald Trump’s second term. According to the ‘ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos’ poll, nearly 60% of Americans are unhappy with Trump’s policies and governance style. This figure matches the negative rating at the end of his first term in 2021.
People criticized the Trump administration on several daily life issues:
Inflation (65%): Strongest anger over inflation handling.
Tariff Policy (64%): Two-thirds deem heavy import tariffs wrong.
Foreign Relations (62%): Dissatisfaction with managing ties with other countries.
Immigration (58%): Negative views on strict migration policies.
Though unhappy with Trump, the opposition Democratic Party also failed to win full public trust. When asked who can solve national problems, opinions split three ways:
Trump: 33%
Democrats: 31%
Neither: 31%
This shows American voters’ disillusionment with both major parties. Notably, even within the Republican Party, divisions emerged—MAGA supporters back Trump, while others criticize his economic policies.
The poll raised fingers at Trump’s personal capabilities:
Fitness: Over half believe he lacks required mental/physical fitness for presidency.
Trustworthiness: 70% say Trump is neither honest nor trustworthy.
Transparency: Administration accused of hiding info on sensitive files like Jeffrey Epstein’s.
On economy, only 3% felt conditions improved; over half say situation worsened post-Trump.
