Book Controversy: Rahul Gandhi’s Claim – ‘Book Revelations Will Unsettle Government’

New Delhi: February 10, 2026

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi questioned the unexplained ban on General Naravane’s book during a Tuesday press interaction at Parliament Complex. He claimed the book contains facts so “inconvenient” for PM Modi and the government that it’s being suppressed.

Rahul Gandhi’s Key Arguments:

  • General Naravane’s Tweet: Rahul recalled that in 2023, General Naravane himself tweeted the book link and urged people to buy it.

  • Publisher vs Army Chief: When publisher Penguin said the book wasn’t published, Rahul retorted, “Now either the General is lying or Penguin. I trust the former Army Chief more.”

  • Amazon Reference: He claimed the book was available on platforms like Amazon, questioning why the government now denies it.

BJP’s Counterattack:

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey dismissed Rahul’s claims outright, saying when the publisher has stated in writing that no such book exists in any format, Rahul is misleading Parliament. Dubey demanded strict action against him.

Parliament Uproar and Delhi Police Action:

  • FIR: Delhi Police filed an FIR for illegal dissemination of the book’s content, stating sharing excerpts without ‘competent authority’ approval is a legal offense.

  • House Adjourned: Congress members created a ruckus after Rahul was denied permission to speak, forcing Lok Sabha proceedings to be adjourned until 2 PM.

Rahul also displayed a poster criticizing the government over the India-US trade deal.
