PM Modi Seeks Blessings from Sant Niranjan Das at Dera Ballan; Adampur Airport Renamed After Sri Guru Ravidas Ji

Jalandhar: February 1, 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid obeisance at Dera Sachkhand Ballan, the prominent religious site of the Ravidasia community in Jalandhar. He touched the feet of Dera head Sant Niranjan Das Ji for blessings and held a special closed-door meeting with him. In his address, the Prime Minister bowed to Punjab’s brave land and said his connection is with Kashi (Varanasi), the birthplace of Sant Ravidas Ji, where he often meets congregations from Punjab. He added that it was Guru Ravidas Ji’s wish that he receive the privilege of visiting this sacred Punjab soil today.

During his visit, the Prime Minister gifted Punjabis two major presents. He officially inaugurated the renaming of Jalandhar’s Adampur Airport as ‘Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport’ and virtually inaugurated the new terminal at the Halwara International Airport in Ludhiana. PM Modi noted that the Ayodhya Airport was named after Maharishi Valmiki in honor of Sant Ravidas Ji’s teachings, and now Adampur Airport will keep his memory alive.

Discussing the budget, the Prime Minister said the one presented today strengthens villages, farmers, and the MSME sector. Highlighting Jalandhar’s sports industry, he mentioned that the new trade agreement with the European Union will allow sports goods made in Jalandhar to reach markets in 27 countries without barriers, creating jobs for lakhs of youth. Additionally, the budget’s decision to make cancer drugs affordable will bring major relief to Punjab’s people.

Praising Sant Niranjan Das Ji’s social work, PM Modi said Dera Ballan is rendering exemplary services in education and health. Recognizing these efforts, the central government has honored Sant Niranjan Das Ji with the Padma Shri award. The PM expressed confidence that with his blessings, the government is working in mission mode to turn Guru Ravidas Ji’s dream of ‘Begumpura’ into reality, and India will become a developed nation.
