Pet Dog Terror in Bengaluru: Woman on Morning Walk Attacked; Over 50 Stitches Required

A pet dog launched a brutal attack on a woman in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout, Teachers Colony area. The incident occurred on the morning of January 26 around 6:54 AM, when the woman had stepped out for a walk near her home. Without any provocation, the dog suddenly pounced on her and mauled her severely.

Ferocity Captured on CCTV
CCTV footage shows the dog’s extreme aggression: it knocked the woman to the ground and relentlessly bit her neck, face, and head. When a neighboring youth rushed to rescue her, the dog attacked him too. Somehow, the woman mustered courage, got up, and saved her life by locking herself inside her home gate.

Hospital Treatment and Severe Injuries
The woman’s condition is described as critical. She sustained deep wounds on her face, neck, and legs. Doctors say over 50 stitches (some reports claim nearly 100) were required on her body. The victim is currently under treatment in the hospital and in a state of shock.

Action Against Dog Owner
The dog belongs to a neighbor named Amresh Reddy. The woman’s husband has filed an FIR at HSR Layout police station. The accusation is that the owner left the dog unleashed without a muzzle or leash, amounting to gross negligence. Police have initiated an investigation.
