UN Chief’s Sharp Rebuke to Donald Trump: “The World Cannot Run on One Country’s Orders”

New York/United Nations, January 30 (2026): UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has launched a direct and pointed attack on US President Donald Trump’s policies. Marking the start of his 10th and final year in office, Guterres warned that international laws are being trampled and the world cannot be left at the mercy of a single power.

Targeting Trump’s “Peace Board”
Guterres’ statement comes in response to Trump’s recently created “Peace Board,” which Trump has tried to present as an alternative to the United Nations.
He made it clear: Global peace and security responsibility lies solely with the United Nations and the Security Council.
He added that dividing the world into US-China bipolar camps won’t solve problems but will increase instability.

Praising India’s Growing Role
Advocating for a multipolar world, Guterres commended India’s role:

  • He called the recent India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) a very positive step.

  • Emerging powers like India partnering with Europe proves the world no longer wants to depend only on Washington or Beijing.

Threat to International Law
Expressing concern over current conditions, Guterres said:

  • Cooperation between countries is declining, and multilateral institutions are under attack.

  • Countries waging wars no longer fear international rules, deepening tensions and mistrust.

Conclusion
Guterres made it clear that even as his term ends, the United Nations will not give up on world peace and will not accept any country’s monopoly.
