Despite the ban on China Dori (plastic string) in Punjab, its deadly reign continues unabated. The latest incident surfaced from Moga, where a 15-year-old youth suffered severe injuries after getting caught in this dangerous string, leaving him badly bloodied.
Victim: The injured youth is the son of the leader of an organization running a campaign against China Dori.
How the Accident Happened: The boy had stepped out for some work and was returning home when the China Dori suddenly struck his neck or face on the road.
Condition: The mishap was so horrific that he was rushed to the hospital, where several stitches were required for his serious wounds.
Although police and administration claim strict action against China Dori sellers, this Moga incident has exposed the ground reality. Locals say:
China Dori is still being sold openly or covertly in markets.
It not only harms humans but also innocent birds and animals daily.
Moga’s prominent citizens and social service organizations have issued a stern warning to the administration. They stated that if effective action isn’t taken immediately against those selling China Dori, people will be forced to surround and protest against these shopkeepers in the coming days.
