Punjab Dense Fog Alert: 3 Days Starting Today
Dense fog will blanket Punjab and Chandigarh for three days from today (Monday), with a Yellow Alert issued by the weather department. Cold wave conditions are absent, and minimum temperatures will rise by 2-4°C over the next 3-4 days.
Recent Temperature Trends
In the last 24 hours, minimum temperatures rose by 0.5°C and maximums by 1.4°C, now 3.9°C above normal. Patiala hit a high of 23°C, Chandigarh 23.4°C (exceeding January 24, 2022’s 22.4°C), while Amritsar recorded the lowest minimum at 1.7°C. Sunday fog reduced visibility to 0-100 meters in Amritsar, Patiala, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, and Ferozepur.
Fog-Affected Districts
Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala face dense fog at isolated spots. Cloudiness and heavy fog persist along Ambala-Amritsar and Delhi highways—drivers must stay alert and use fog lights.

Two Western Disturbances will impact from nights of January 19 and 21:
Jan 22-23: Light to moderate rain at some places.
Jan 24: Possible rain at one or two spots.
