Punjab Weather Update: Dense Fog for 3 Days, Followed by Rain

The weather department has issued a Yellow Alert for several parts of Punjab. While cold wave conditions will ease slightly, dense fog could disrupt travel.

Fog and Temperature Outlook

• Dense Fog Ahead: Heavy fog is likely in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Kapurthala, Patiala, and Fatehgarh Sahib until January 20 (next 3 days).

• Rising Minimums: Over the next 3-4 days, minimum temperatures may increase by 2-4°C, bringing slight relief from nighttime chill.

• Coldest City: Amritsar recorded the lowest at 1.7°C in the past 24 hours.

Rain Forecast (January 21-24)
A Western Disturbance will bring changes:

• January 21: Mostly dry, but cloud cover may begin.

• January 22-23: Light to moderate rain possible across many areas.

• January 24: Rain at one or two places.

Advice for Travelers
Visibility could drop to 0-100 meters due to fog. Drivers on Ambala-Amritsar and Delhi highways should drive cautiously and use fog lights.
