Bomb Threat Scrawled in Airplane Bathroom Triggers Emergency Landing for Indigo Flight in Lucknow
Hoax Alert Mid-Flight
Panic erupted aboard Indigo flight 6E-6650 from Delhi to Bagdogra when a passenger discovered a written bomb threat in the aircraft bathroom. For safety, the pilot diverted the plane to Lucknow airport for an emergency landing on Sunday morning.
Discovery and Immediate Response
The incident occurred while the flight was airborne. A passenger spotted the message—”Bomb on board”—scrawled on a tissue paper in the lavatory and alerted the cabin crew. The pilots promptly contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) to request emergency landing permission. The flight carried 230 passengers, 2 pilots, and 5 crew members.
Thorough Security Checks at Lucknow Airport
The aircraft touched down safely around 8:46 AM and was taxied to an isolation bay. Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) teams and fire brigades swept every corner of the plane. No suspicious items were found so far, easing concerns for passengers and authorities. ACP Rjanish Verma stated police are investigating to identify the prankster.
