Chandigarh, December 14: The Institution of Engineers (India), Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre, under the aegis of the Marine Engineering Division Board, in collaboration with the Institute of Marine Engineers (India), Chandigarh Chapter, organized a one-day seminar on “Sustainability and Innovations or Advancements in Marine Technology” on Saturday, 13 December 2025 at Engineers Bhawan, Sector 19-A, Chandigarh.
The programme began with registration and tea, followed by the inaugural function featuring garlanding of the bust of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. Er. SS Mundi FIE, Past Chairman, IEI Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre and Council Member IE(I) delivered the welcome address. Er. Manoj Kumar Sinha, G.M. Lubes, IOCL Punjab, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Capt. (Dr.) Nitin Agarwala, Indian Navy, attended as the Guest of Honour. Er. Iqbal Singh, Chairman, IMEI–Chandigarh Chapter, also addressed the gathering.
The technical session featured invited lectures by Dr. Manpreet Kaur (HOD, Research & Innovation, BBSBEC Fatehgarh Sahib), Er. Prof. Jasjeet Suri (Vice-Principal, Chitkara University of Maritime Studies), Er. Arjun G. Singh Tuteja (Technical Service Manager, Indian Oil Corporation), Capt. Prabhat Nigam (Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University of Maritime Studies), and Er. Munish Sharma (Technical Director, Royal Marine Ship Management Pte. Ltd.), who shared insights on sustainable practices and emerging innovations in marine engineering.
The seminar concluded with the presentation of mementoes, a vote of thanks by Dr Manpreet Kaur Honorary Joint Secretary, IEI Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre, and the National Anthem. The event witnessed active participation from engineers, academicians, and students, fostering meaningful dialogue on the future of marine technology.
