Chandigarh, November 18: Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, the AAP MLA from Sanour who has been on the run since early September after serious allegations of rape were levelled against him, has once again appeared on social media. In a new video message, Pathanmajra is seen wishing his nephew a happy birthday. The short clip, believed to have been recorded while he was travelling in a car, shows the MLA offering warm greetings and telling his nephew that he hopes they can reunite soon. The message has drawn fresh attention to his continued absence from India at a time when he is wanted by the police.

The Patiala Police had registered a case against Pathanmajra on September 1. The FIR, based on the complaint of a Zirakpur-based woman, includes charges of rape, cheating and criminal intimidation. Since the registration of the case, Pathanmajra has not appeared before investigating authorities, prompting the police to declare him an absconder and initiate efforts to trace his whereabouts.

His location came into sharper focus earlier this month when he appeared in a video interview from Adelaide, South Australia. In that interview, Pathanmajra rejected the allegations against him and alleged political motives behind the case. He maintained that he had no intention of evading the law but would return to India only after securing appropriate legal protection, including anticipatory bail. His statements, coupled with the birthday video, have once again intensified the debate around his prolonged absence and the challenges faced by the police in bringing him back to face investigation.
