Chandigarh, November 7: Soon after the removal of PSPCL director Harjit Singh, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s technical advisor, Ravi Chawla, has stepped down from his post. Chawla was reportedly asked to resign over allegations of delays in clearing files related to development projects.

Appointed in June 2024 following his retirement as Chief Engineer, Chawla was tasked with approving technical estimates for various departmental works. However, officials said multiple complaints were received that several files had been pending with him for extended periods, causing delays in the execution of key projects.

Acting on these complaints, the government directed Chawla to submit his resignation. Departments have now been instructed to clear their technical estimates independently to ensure that project timelines are met.

As technical advisor, Chawla’s role involved offering expert advice on tenders, supervising infrastructure initiatives, and ensuring compliance with technical standards and quality norms in government projects.
