Desh Bhagat University Becomes First in Punjab to Sign MoU with Special Olympics Bharat
Mandi Gobindgarh,31 Oct: Desh Bhagat University (DBU) achieved another milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) Punjab at the university campus.
Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tejinder Kaur, President Dr. Sandeep Singh, and Vice Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Desh Bhagat University has become the first university in Punjab to officially collaborate with Special Olympics Bharat, which is led nationally by President Dr. Mallika Nadda. This marks the first-ever MoU of its kind in the Punjab region, signifying DBU’s commitment to advancing inclusive healthcare and education.
The ceremony was attended by prominent officials and academicians. Representing Desh Bhagat University were Dr. Vikram Bali (Principal, Desh Bhagat Dental College), Dr. Tejveer Singh (Vice Principal, Desh Bhagat Dental College), Dr. Manmohit Singh (Professor and Clinical Director ,Special Smiles, Special Olympics Bharat Punjab), and Dr. Ravneet Kaur (Associate Professor and Clinical Director, Special Olympics Bharat, DBU).
From Special Olympics Bharat – Punjab, the distinguished dignitaries present included Col. Karminder Singh (Advisor, SOB Punjab), Mr. Paramjit Singh Sachdeva (Area Director, SOB Punjab), Mr. Anil Goyal (Treasurer, SOB Punjab), Mr. Uma Shankar (Program Manager, SOB Punjab), and Mr. Niranjan Kumar (Member, SOB Punjab).
The MoU aims to establish a collaborative framework for the exchange and dissemination of knowledge related to the healthcare needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities. As part of this partnership, Desh Bhagat University will actively support Special Olympics Bharat’s Healthy Athletes and Healthy Community Programs, including: Special Smiles (Dental),Fun Fitness (Physiotherapy),Fit Feet (Podiatry),Healthy Hearing (Audiology), Med Fest (Sports Physical Exam),Opening Eyes (Ophthalmology),Health Promotion.
Speaking on the occasion, university leaders highlighted the significance of this collaboration in promoting inclusive healthcare and community well-being.
