Doctor Writes Suicide Note on Hand Before Ending Life, Accuses Police Officers of Rape

A tragic incident has emerged from Satara district in Maharashtra, where a woman doctor took her own life after allegedly being raped and harassed by two police officers. Shockingly, the doctor wrote her suicide note on her palm, revealing the names of the accused officers and the trauma she endured.

According to the police, the doctor was found hanging in a hotel room in Phaltan, Satara. She was a resident of Beed district and worked at a government hospital in Phaltan. In the handwritten note on her palm, she stated that two policemen had been raping and harassing her for months, leading her to take the extreme step.

In her note, the doctor alleged that Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane had repeatedly raped her and sexually harassed her several times, while another officer, Prashant Banker, had been mentally tormenting her. The victim claimed that the harassment had been ongoing for nearly five months, leaving her mentally distressed.

A senior Satara police official confirmed that an investigation has been initiated. “We have registered a case, and the body has been sent for post-mortem. The allegations mentioned in the suicide note are being thoroughly investigated,” the officer said.

Rupali Chakankar, Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, stated that the commission has taken cognizance of the case. “We have directed Satara police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation. Teams have been formed to locate the accused officers, and no one found guilty will be spared,” she said.

Reacting strongly, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar criticized the state government, saying, “This is a horrifying example of protectors turning into predators. If police officers themselves exploit a woman doctor, where can justice come from? Why was no action taken when she filed her complaint earlier? The Mahayuti government keeps shielding police misconduct, which is why such atrocities continue to rise.”

Authorities have assured that a detailed investigation is underway, and strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible.
