Major Terror Attack Foiled in Delhi; Two ISIS-Inspired Suicide Bombers Arrested
New Delhi, October 24: Delhi Police have foiled a major terror plot after arresting two suspected terrorists linked to an Islamic State (ISIS)-inspired module that was allegedly preparing to carry out suicide bombings in the national capital.
According to senior officials, the two suspects were in the final stages of assembling improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and were undergoing training for suicide missions. One of the accused, identified as Adnan, was arrested from Delhi’s Sadiq Nagar, while the second was caught in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh following coordinated raids by the Special Cell of Delhi Police.
Investigators revealed that the module was planning to target crowded public areas in Delhi, and had already stockpiled weapons and explosives, which have now been seized. Initial probes indicate the network was inspired by ISIS ideology and possibly receiving support from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Police sources said the suspects were communicating through encrypted platforms and had recently acquired materials used in making IEDs. “Their plans were in an advanced stage, and they were only days away from execution,” an officer said.
The arrests followed intelligence inputs shared between central agencies and Delhi Police, leading to a series of searches in both Delhi and Bhopal. Forensic teams are now examining the seized devices and communication data to trace the wider network and possible handlers abroad.
Officials believe this breakthrough may have prevented a catastrophic terror strike in the heart of the capital. Security agencies have heightened surveillance in high-footfall areas, metro stations, and key government zones following the arrests.
Police sources added that more arrests could follow as interrogation continues to identify local contacts and financial routes linked to the module.
