Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Friday appealed to the public not to panic over fake reports of breach circulating on social media, clarifying that no such incident has been reported in the district so far.
Responding to rumours regarding breach, Jain stated district administration was keeping a close watch on the situation. He added that though the soil has eroded at some places but there is no water breach so far.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the district administration was fully prepared to deal with any eventuality, with multiple teams of administration, Indian Army, NDRF and villagers are strengthening the bandh here round the clock.
Further, adequate relief centres and essential material have already pre-arranged. A district-level flood control room has also been set up at helpline number 0161-2433100.
Urging people to remain alert and not fall prey to rumors, Jain assured that the Punjab Government and district administration were firmly committed to safeguarding the interests of the public.
