Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat strongly condemned the deep-rooted conspiracy of the Central BJP government to snatch ration from 55 lakh needy people of Punjab and said that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann Punjab Government will not tolerate looting of ration meant for the poor people of the state at any cost.
Addressing a press conference here at the Circuit House today along with Kartarpur MLA Balkar Singh, the Cabinet Minister said that the Central Government is attacking the rights of the common and poor people of Punjab. He said that due to the orders of the Central Government to cut 8 lakh ration cards, about 32 lakh people in the state will be deprived of ration.
He said that while on one hand the Central Government claims to give free ration to 80 crore people, on the other it is conspiring to cancel the ration of 55 lakh people in Punjab. He said that after stealing votes, now BJP has adopted a new tactic of stealing ration. He added that this malicious conspiracy of the Central Government to snatch food from the mouths of Punjab’s common and poor people will not be allowed to succeed.
Mr. Bhagat said that the policy of the Central Government led by BJP to suppress the governments and people of non-BJP ruled states has become evident. He alleged that earlier the Central Government used to pressurize the non-BJP ruled state governments, but now it has openly started intimidating the people of those states as well.
He said that under the pretext of e-KYC, the Central BJP government had stopped the ration of 23 lakh Punjabis in July and now it has threatened to stop ration of another 32 lakh people from September 30. He said that a heinous conspiracy is being hatched to deprive 55 lakh needy people of Punjab of their ration.
He said that this decision of the Centre is anti-Punjab and also exposes the anti-poor agenda of the BJP government. He said that Punjab made the country self-reliant in food grains, but now the same Punjab is being deprived of ration. The Cabinet Minister appealed to the Prime Minister to reconsider the conditions in the interest of the poor and also appealed to the people of Punjab to question BJP leaders wherever they see them as to why Punjab’s ration cards are being cut.
The Cabinet Minister said that the Punjab Government is committed to protecting the rights of the people and not a single ration card will be cancelled. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has already made it clear in a press conference that the Aam Aadmi Party government stands with the poor people of the state and no family will be left deprived of ration. Mr. Bhagat said that the State Government will not back down from undertaking any step necessary to protect the rights of the people of the state.
On this occasion, Chairman District Planning Committee Amritpal Singh, Chairman Punjab State Cooperative Bank Pawan Kumar Tinu, Chairman Improvement Trust Ramneek Singh Randhawa, Chairman Punjab Agro Export Corporation Limited Mangal Singh Bassi, Senior AAP leaders Rajwinder Kaur Thiada, Dinesh Dhall, Principal Prem Kumar, Pinder Pandori and others were also present.
