The flood situation in swollen Beas river remained grim today as water level remain static at 1.16 lakh cusec causing damage to standing wheat crops sown over 25 to 30 acres of agriculture land in the Mand areas of Sultanpurlodhi according to an official drainage department.
Drainage Department SDO Khushwinder Singh when contacted by confirmed that flood situation remained unchanged in the swollen Beas river which inundates more than 20 villages.
Meanwhile followers of Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal strengthen the weak points on the banks of advance bund near village Ahlikalan by putting one thousand sand bags to save bundh from fury of floods.
Ahlikalan farmers Balwinder Singh and Ranjit singh expressed their gratitude to Sant Seechewal for strengthening bundh at Ahlikalan and saved their nearly 150 acres of paddy crops from fury of flood water.
Meanwhile former cricketer Harbhajan Singh Bhaji who also Rajya Sabha member and Sant Seechewal on Monday met flood affected farmers of Mand areas and assured them relief and compensation to them .
Both of them wrote a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give adequate compensation to affected farmers .
