Sacred Kali Bein to clear of dirty water of four villages within 3 months says Rajya sabha member Sant Seechewal

Environmentalist and Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal today claimed that 165 kilometer long sacred Kali Bein named after Guru Nanak Dev ji will be cleared of dirty water of four villages still polluting it within three months.

Seechewal who visited the city for plantation drive at Model Town was honoured with the title “Punjab Pania da Rakha” by a voluntary organisation Punjab Human Rights Press club which works on environment and human rights violations .

Speaking on the occasion, Sant said that he would personally discuss the problem of dirty water polluting the rivulet(Bein) with the Deputy Commissioner of Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur and work on making alternative arrangements to manage the dirty water of four villages two each falling in kapurthala and Hoshiarpur and utilise it for farming purposes after cleaning it .

It is pertinent to mention here that Sant Seechewal and his followers cleaned manually 165 kilometer long holy bein and recently celebrated the 25th kar sewa of rivulet .

Seechewal and his followers are doing cleaning of Buddha Nallah rivulet in Ludhiana in these days and doing the cleanliness drive for the past more than seven months .He told media persons that dirty water of seven villages have been stopped and work on remaining one village was in progress.He claimed that 79 dairies which were polluting the Budha Nallah have stopped putting animal dung in it .

He expressed his concern that dirty water of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation was still flowing in the Buddha river .

National Green Tribunal has taken cognizance of polluting the Buddha river by issuing notices of penalty and corporation has sought time till October 1 to stop the flow of dirty water in it.

Seechewal and his followers have so far cleaned 18 kilometre long Buddha river and work on the remaining 27 kilometre was in progress.
