In a bold and visionary move, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved the establishment of the Department of Future, marking a historic shift in the state’s governance approach.
This new department, a promise made in the 2025–26 state budget, aims to prepare Haryana not just for the present, but for the fast-changing dynamics of the future. The initiative has now received official notification following the Governor’s assent.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Saini emphasized that 21st-century governments must look beyond current challenges and base their decisions on vision, data, and technology.
The Department of Future will focus on scientific policymaking by integrating Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, Robotics, and other advanced technologies into the governance framework.
The goal is to anticipate challenges and opportunities in critical sectors such as education, health, agriculture, energy, environment, and infrastructure—and act on them before they become crises.
Importantly, the department will also work to equip Haryana’s youth with future-ready skills. In a world where traditional jobs are rapidly evolving, this forward-thinking approach will provide new opportunities and guide young people towards innovation, entrepreneurship, and resilience.
Calling the department the foundation of Haryana’s long-term vision, CM Saini said it will not only influence policy decisions but also help transform mindsets and administrative methods.
“This is more than just a department—it is the seed of future preparedness that will grow into a banyan tree of prosperity and progress,” he stated.
The initiative is also a key step in aligning Haryana with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of Viksit Bharat @2047, aiming to make the state a pioneer in data-driven, innovation-led governance. With this, Haryana is set to transition from reactive governance to proactive, insight-based leadership—ushering in a new era of development, inclusion, and sustainability.
