Youth Akali Dal corners Punjab congress over cheap politics on sacrilege issue

The Fact News Service
Jalandhar, July 17

Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer led a massive protest against the Congress Party in Jalandhar today, following the shocking admission by Jalandhar Congress MLA Pargat Singh in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha that the Congress deliberately delayed justice in the Sacrilege case. The party workers protested outside Congress office in Jalandhar and even burned the effigies of Congress leaders.

The Youth Akali Dal simultaneously organized protests against Congress across all districts of Punjab, where party workers burned effigies of Congress leaders outside Congress offices. In Jalandhar, the effigy was burned right outside the gate of the Congress office. In Muktsar, the protest targeted Punjab Congress President Raja Warring. Similar scenes were witnessed in Bathinda, Mansa, Barnala, Firozpur, Moga, Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Mohali, and Fatehgarh Sahib—everywhere, the anger of the Sikh youth was visible.

Lashing out at the Congress, Jhinjer said, “The Congress Party has a proven track record of being anti-Sikh. From the 1984 Sikh massacre to Operation Bluestar, and then swearing on the Holy Gutka Sahib only to break their commitment—Congress has a long history of hurting Sikh sentiments. Now, with Congress MLA Pargat Singh admitting that the Congress government deliberately delayed justice in sacrilege cases for political gain, it reaffirms our stand that the party holds deep-rooted hatred toward the Sikh community.”

Speaking further, Jhinjer said, “It is highly shameful that the Congress Party played politics on such a sensitive and sacred issue involving the sacrilege of our holy granths. During their five years in power, they deliberately stalled justice just for cheap political gains. Pargat Singh must come forward and name those in the Congress government who were responsible for this delay. He cannot simply wash his hands by saying he was not in favor of the delay—if he truly disagreed, he should have resigned. Why did he continue as an MLA and even as a minister in that government?”

Answering a question about the AAP government’s intent, he said, “It is clear that the Aam Aadmi Party is also playing politics on the issue of sacrilege. It has been three and a half years—had they been serious, justice would have been delivered by now. This Vidhan Sabha session was just another sham with zero outcomes. Their own MLA Naresh Yadav has been convicted in a sacrilege case, and he is being defended by none other than our very own Finance Minister Harpal Cheema. This reflects the sorry state of governance under AAP.”

Present with Jhinjer were Tajinder Singh Nijjar secretary general, Bachittar Singh Kohad Shiromani Akali Dal District President Jalandhar Rural, Iqbal Singh Dhindsa Urban President, Vipandeep Singh Dhilon YAD President rural, Amritveer Singh Urban President, Gagandeep singh gaggi, Kuldeep singh tandi, Tanveer singh kapurthala, Major Rajkamal Singh Nakodar, Gurdeep singh ladhra, Maninder Singh, Harjap Singh Sangha among others.
