Appealing to be careful of viral messages on the social media, the District Child Protection Officer Malerkotla Harpreet Kaur said that the sponsorship scheme under Mission Vatsalya scheme is a continuous scheme for which no last date has been fixed, but the beneficiaries can apply to take advantage of this scheme if necessary.
She said, if one of the parents has died and the children are below 18 years of age, then two children of such families will be given Rs. 4000 per month.
The rumour states that the form should be filled and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s office by the 27th, which is a completely false rumour. Viral message that has been posted on social media by mischievous elements.
She said that in Punjab, the District Child Protection Unit Malerkotla provides financial benefit of Rs. 4000 per month to 18-year-old children under the Mission Vatsalya scheme, which has various conditions.
She further added said that under the guidelines of Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tirke, the Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee has approved the scheme for children aged 0 to 18 years in the district whose parents are suffering from life-threatening/dangerous diseases, parents are financially and physically unable to take care of the children, children in need of care and protection as per JJ Act 2015 such as homeless, victims of natural disasters, child labour, child marriage, victims of trafficking, disabled, or children living on the streets, children who are victims of abuse or exploitation, HIV/AIDS affected children covered under PM Care for Children Scheme.
