Kapurthala Police solved a case of burglary — Rs 70 lakh — from a jewellery shop in the town after they arrested four burglars and recovered Rs 8 lakh cash, three kilograms silver, and 4.5 tolas of gold ornaments.
Addressing a press conference here today, Senior Superientendent of Police Gaurav Toora disclosed that the police have arrested two thieves identified as Jonny of Ferozepur and Amandeep Singh, and arrested two goldsmiths — Dharampal of Mallewal and Rahul Sharma, to whom the thieves had sold gold ornaments.
Police said the accused Jonny was arrested from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, while Amandeep Singh was arrested from Kangra with an Xcent car used by the two to commit the crime.
Police have nominated three more accused, and police parties have been dispatched to arrest them.
The police said four masked armed burglars took away an iron box containing gold and silver ornaments amounting to Rs 70 lakh from a jewellery shop in Kapurthala on June 8 in the early hours.
