Ludhiana, May 25

The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the bye-election to the Ludhiana (West) assembly constituency, with polling scheduled for June 19. The bye-election is being conducted to fill the vacant seat following the untimely demise of sitting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi.

The Aam Aadmi Party has fielded Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for this crucial bypoll. Born on September 18, 1963, Arora is a commerce graduate from S.C.D. Government College, Ludhiana. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 2022 and currently serves as a member of both the Parliamentary Standing Committee and the Consultative Committee on Health and Family Welfare.

In addition to his political responsibilities, Arora is a well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist. He has played a leading role in healthcare advocacy and cancer care through the Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Charitable Trust, which has provided free treatment to over 300 patients. He continues to be at the forefront of pushing for affordable healthcare policies, both within and outside Parliament.

Arora has been actively campaigning for nearly three months, holding extensive public outreach programs throughout Ludhiana (West). During this period, he has addressed hundreds of meetings, engaging with residents from diverse backgrounds and responding to a range of public concerns.

Reacting to the announcement of the election date, Arora stated, “The official declaration of the election date has brought clarity and new energy to my campaign. I have been engaging with the people of Ludhiana (West) for the past several weeks, and now I’m moving ahead with greater focus and urgency. I appeal to every voter to come forward and participate actively in this democratic process. This is not just an election—it’s an opportunity to shape the future of our constituency with a clean, responsive, and development-oriented leadership.”

With the schedule now official, Arora’s campaign has shifted into a more aggressive phase. He said, “I am committed to work tirelessly for the development of Ludhiana, with a focus on improving healthcare, education, and infrastructure. My vision is to make Ludhiana a model constituency, where every citizen feels heard, respected, and empowered. I have spent the last three years listening to people from all walks of life, understanding their problems firsthand. My doors will always remain open for the people—day or night. I believe in transparent governance, people-centric policies, and long-term solutions, not short-term fixes. If elected, I will ensure that the voice of Ludhiana resonates strongly in the Vidhan Sabha.”
