Punjab Health Minister: “No active COVID cases, J1 variant mild and under control”

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has issued a public statement regarding the recent detection of a new COVID-19 variant, reassuring residents that there is no cause for alarm.

Dr. Singh informed that a mild variant of the virus, known as J1, has recently been reported in Delhi, Haryana, and Kerala. However, he emphasized that the strain is not leading to serious illness, with over 98% of affected individuals already recovered.

He further clarified that no active COVID-19 cases have been reported in Punjab so far. “All hospitals across the state are fully equipped and prepared to handle any potential cases,” the Minister stated.

Urging the public to stay informed and follow standard health precautions, Dr. Singh said, “There is absolutely no need to panic. The Punjab Government is fully prepared to manage the situation, and we are closely monitoring developments.”
