Haryana CM announces ₹4 crore aid, village renaming, and memorial park for Martyr Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar

In a heartfelt tribute to Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar Sharma, who was martyred during cross-border shelling in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a comprehensive support package for the soldier’s family and his native village. The announcement was made on May 15, 2025, during the Chief Minister’s visit to Nagla Mohammadpur in Palwal district, where he paid his respects to the fallen hero.

The state government will provide financial assistance of ₹4 crore to the family of Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar to support them in their time of grief. Additionally, in honor of the martyr’s supreme sacrifice, his village, Nagla Mohammadpur, will be renamed “Dineshpur.” A park named “Operation Sindoor Dinesh Kumar Park” will also be constructed on land donated by the soldier’s father, Daya Chand Sharma, to serve as a lasting memorial to his bravery. Other government facilities will be extended to the village to enhance its infrastructure and commemorate the soldier’s legacy.

Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, aged 32, was killed on May 7, 2025, during intense shelling by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, following India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist infrastructure across the border. His cremation, held with full state honors, saw thousands gather, chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Dinesh Kumar Sharma Amar Rahe,” reflecting the deep respect for his sacrifice.

Chief Minister Saini expressed his condolences, stating, “The bravery of Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar Sharma will forever inspire us. His sacrifice for the nation is a matter of pride for every Indian. The Haryana government stands firmly with his family, and these measures are a small token of our gratitude for his service.”

The initiatives have been widely appreciated as a fitting tribute to the martyr, ensuring his legacy endures in his village and beyond.
