Youth Akali Dal National President and Shiromani Akali Dal Core Committee Member Sarabjit Singh Jhinjer has issued a sharp rebuke to Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa over his recent praise of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In a Facebook Live session, Jhinjer said Randhawa’s remarks were not just insensitive but a deliberate insult to the enduring pain and sacrifices of the Punjabi people.
“It is shocking that someone like Randhawa is defending Indira Gandhi — the very leader whose actions left some of the deepest scars on Punjab’s soul. From Operation Bluestar to the looting of Punjab’s waters through the SYL canal, her legacy is defined by suppression, betrayal, and bloodshed,” said Jhinjer.
He reminded the public of long-standing allegations that Randhawa’s father had distributed sweets when Sri Darbar Sahib was attacked in 1984. “And now, the same Randhawa glorifies Indira Gandhi as a role model. This is not mere ignorance — it is a calculated attempt to distort history and mislead the people,” he added.
Reacting to Randhawa’s claim that “India once again needs Indira Gandhi,” Jhinjer said Punjab knows the truth and will never forget or forgive what Indira Gandhi and her family did to this land. “She pushed Punjab into the fire once, and we will never let that happen again.”
Jhinjer emphasized that the crises Punjab faced were the result of deliberate political choices made during Indira Gandhi’s rule. “The SYL project began under her watch, draining Punjab’s water. Her government treated Punjab as a target, not a partner,” he said.
He warned that Randhawa’s statements may be part of a broader political design. “This is no coincidence. The script looks familiar. We saw it in 1992 — and it seems preparations are now underway for 2027.”
Jhinjer also referenced a recent interview involving senior journalist Simranjot Singh Makkar and the family of KPS Gill, saying such interactions are not isolated but part of a larger, systematic attempt to rewrite Punjab’s history and confuse today’s youth.
Raising critical questions, Jhinjer asked what Congress is trying to signal by glorifying Indira Gandhi and defending the likes of KPS Gill. He also questioned whether recent threats to Akali leaders and politically motivated police actions are part of a larger conspiracy.
In his closing remarks, Jhinjer called on the youth of Punjab to be vigilant and aware. “This video is not just a reaction — it is a call to remember the truth. Every Punjabi must ask: are these developments just coincidences, or part of a larger scheme to repeat the mistakes of the past? Let’s stay united, informed, and alert.”
