Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rohit Gupta announced the establishment of 24×7 Flood Control Rooms at the District Administrative Complex and sub-divisional levels to vigilantly monitor potential flood-like situations in Ludhiana after mid-June.
During a meeting with relevant departments, Gupta, accompanied by ADC Jagraon Kulpreet Singh, issued directives to finalize staff duty rosters for the control rooms. Senior officers will be appointed on a rotational basis to oversee operations and ensure effective monitoring.
Reviewing flood preparedness, Gupta emphasized the administration’s commitment to preventing incidents during the upcoming monsoon season. He instructed the officials to reinforce flood-prone areas to minimize potential damage and confirmed that adequate arrangements are in place to address emergencies.
Gupta directed all departments to prepare comprehensive contingency plans and ensure readiness to tackle any crisis. He stressed finalizing evacuation plans, identifying vulnerable areas, and designating safe locations for relocating residents from flood-prone zones if necessary.
The ADC also urged the Food & Supply, Irrigation, Power, Drainage, Municipal Corporation, Health, Panchayat, and Police departments to coordinate and make necessary arrangements. Specifically, he also ordered the Drainage department to immediately begin cleaning all district drains to mitigate flood risks.
