Hundreds of people pay rich tributes to great Sikh warrior Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia on his 307th birth anniversary

Hundreds of people here today paid rich tributes to Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, the great Sikh warrior and founder of Kapurthala state, on his 307th birth anniversary.

The royal family headed by Brigadier (Retd) Sukhjit Singh Ahluwalia and his son Tikka Raja Shatrujit Singh Ahluwalia organised Akhand Path at State Gurdwara today which was attended by large number of people from all walks of life.

Nawab Jassa Singh was born in 1718 at village Ahlu now falling in Pakistan.

He fought many battles with the Mughals. He liberated 2200 Hindu girls from the clutches of Mughal ruler Ahmed Shah Abdali by fighting a battle with him and escorting all the girls to their homes.He built Harmandir Sahib, which the Mughals had demolished, by donating rupees ten lakh at that time.He even conquered Delhi from the Mughals.

The royal family celebrate his birth anniversary every year and even organised kirtan Darbar in his memory for past so many years .

Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia memorial trust today honoured more two dozen prominent residents including SAD halqa incharge H .S.Ahluwalia, SGPC member Jarnail Singh Dograwal, Harbans Singh Ahluwalia ,Karam Singh Ahluwalia , DrS.S.Gill and Nirmaljit Singh.
