Aykai Academic Research Trust Ldh organised bicycle rally to promote organ donation and kidney health awareness

Aykai Academic Research Trust (AART), in collaboration with the Bathinda Cycling Group and Indian Medical Association Bathinda successfully organised a bicycle rally on 19th April 2025 to raise awareness about organ donation and educate the public on kidney health.

The rally was flagged off by Mr. Showkat Ahmad Parray, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda, from the Fire Brigade Station who himself cycled. Mr Showkat said that making public aware about how you can save lives and play tremendous goodwill role by becoming organ donor. He congratulated Aykai Hospital & Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh Chief Urologist & Transplant surgeon, Chairman AART Ludhiana for taking initiative about such a noble cause.

Cyclists pedaled through the city with great enthusiasm, concluding the rally at Rose Garden. The event saw active participation from locals, volunteers, and health advocates who supported the cause wholeheartedly.The cyclist were felicitated by DIG Harjeet Singh IPS ,he said we believe that awareness is the first step towards action. Through this rally, you have not only motivated people to pledge their organs and give the gift of life, but also made public aware that how to protect one of our body’s most vital organs — the kidneys.He congratulated Dr Aulakh & Aykai for taking this noble initiative forward with such dedication and heart. Your leadership and compassion have inspired us all.ADC Poonam Mam was also the part of the event.

 

The event concluded with an inspiring health talk delivered by Dr. Baldev Singh Aulakh. Dr. Aulakh emphasized the importance of organ donation, explaining how a single brain-dead donor can save up to eight lives. He also shared practical tips on maintaining kidney health, including the importance of staying hydrated, avoiding smoking and alcohol, regular exercise, controlling blood pressure & sugar, timely treatment of stones, prostate & kidney cancer and maintaining overall physical fitness.

 

Bathinda cycling club president Preetmohinder Singh Brar and IMA president Dr Deepak Bansal said that our associations are thrilled to be part of this life saving awareness event.
