The family members of late Sahib Sri Kashi Ram, the hero of the Bahujan movement, honoured Jasvir Singh Garhi, Chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission, at the Punjab Civil Secretariat here on Thursday.
The family members, including Sri Kanshi Ram’s brother Harbans Singh, sister-in-law Bibi Bhupinder Kaur, nephew Balwinder Singh and Kiranjit Kaur, along with social workers Master Rampal Viyana, Jagtar Singh Tibba Tapprian and Rakshapal Ropar, stated that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has bestowed a great honour upon the Dalits of the state by appointing a true Bahujan leader as the Chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission.
They said that S. Jasvir Singh Garhi has been working diligently to make Dalit people aware of their rights and duties towards the country and now with holding this position, he will play a crucial role in securing justice for Dalit communities.
