Ludhiana, April 16

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora is fast gaining a reputation as a ‘Santa’ for the people of Ludhiana and its industrial sector—wherever he goes, solutions to decades-old problems follow.

During a function organised by the Bahadur-Ke Textile and Knitwear Association and the Udyog Vihar Industrial Association at an industrial unit on Bahadur-Ke Road on Tuesday, Arora was briefed on long-pending issues faced by local industries. True to his proactive style, Arora provided immediate solutions to most of the problems raised.

The event was attended by ADC Amarjit Bains, GLADA Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, MLAs Madan Lal Bagga and Daljit Singh Bhola, as well as officials from PSPCL and Punjab Police.

Listening patiently to grievances from industrialists of the Bahadur-Ke Road area, Arora discussed each concern with relevant officials. He announced plans to enhance road infrastructure, stating that at least two roads will be connected to Bahadur-Ke Road, eventually linking the area to the Ludhiana-Rupnagar Expressway. GLADA Chief Administrator Sandeep Kumar confirmed a survey would be conducted for new road construction and necessary land acquisition.

Addressing the staff shortage in PSPCL, Arora called a PSPCL official to the stage and instructed immediate arrangement of the required personnel to handle industrial complaints. He warned that any future complaints on the same issue would hold the concerned PSPCL official directly accountable, emphasising that industry should not suffer due to manpower shortages.

An industrialist raised concerns about the screen-printing industry shifted from the Orange to the Red Category by the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), severely impacting business. Arora asked for a formal written complaint with a suggested resolution, promising to escalate the matter to the appropriate authorities.

He was also informed about complications involving building bylaws and NOCs required for constructing industrial sheds up to 21 meters high. Arora requested detailed documentation to take up the matter for resolution.

Industrialist Iqbal Saini remarked, “We’ve heard the slogan ‘Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Tuhade Dwar,’ but for the first time, we’re witnessing issues getting resolved on the spot. MP Arora’s swift action in the presence of MLAs, the Mayor, and senior officials is truly commendable.”

Other prominent attendees included Gagan Khanna, Ashok Jain, Roop Lal Jain, Kiran Jain, Mohinder Kumar Jain, and Yuvraj Arora.
