Chandigarh, April 3
Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Anil Vij said that the Waqf Board Amendment Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha yesterday because it is an important bill designed to prevent fraud and theft, as Waqf properties across the country were being looted. Vij clarified that this was not the first amendment to the Waqf Board Bill, it had been amended five times before. He further stated that the sun of Narendra Modi would shine for years in Hindustan, while for the opposition, it would remain a dark night.
Vij made these remarks while talking to the media persons today.
He said that in 2013, under the influence of appeasement politics, the Congress government had amended the Waqf Board Bill in a way that allowed the Waqf Board to claim ownership of any land, placing the burden of proving ownership on the person who possessed the land. If this bill had remained unchanged, the Waqf Board could have claimed ownership over all of India, leaving the people of India in a difficult situation. He said that the current amendment is meant to correct the appeasement-driven bill introduced by Congress.
Regarding the rejection of mosque scanners under the Waqf Amendment Bill, Vij stated that the government works for the general public, and people are happy with its decisions. Across the country, people celebrated yesterday with fireworks, colors and dancing. However, religious leaders who have a political agenda rather than a religious one cannot be pleased. When asked about the opposition calling yesterday a “black day,” Vij responded sarcastically, saying that Narendra Modi’s sun will shine for years in Hindustan, and for the opposition, it will remain a dark night.
