Ludhiana, April 3
MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora has assured the transgender community that he will take up their demand for establishing a Board dedicated to their welfare in Punjab.
Speaking at a FICCI FLO Ludhiana event on Wednesday evening, a member of the transgender community urged Arora to intervene in setting up the Board, highlighting that several states already have such bodies in place. In response, Arora admitted he was unaware of the absence of such a Board in Punjab but assured that he would raise the matter with the concerned Minister.
Arora also reflected on other long-pending developmental projects, including the construction of Halwara Airport, the elevated road project, Sidhwan Canal bridges, and the upgradation of ESI and Civil Hospitals. He emphasized that with his intervention, several of these projects have either been completed or are on verge of completion.
During an interactive session, Arora clarified that the delay in the Halwara Airport project was due to pending approvals from various departments, including the Indian Air Force. Airport Authority of India and the Department of Forests. However, he expressed optimism that flights would commence within the next couple of months.
The event, held in collaboration with AIPL Dream City, also saw Arora and Ludhiana Mayor Inderjit Kaur honoring various NGOs for their contributions to society.
