Ludhiana launches early fogging drive to prevent dengue spread; credit goes to MP Arora

Ludhiana, March 27

Upon receiving information about suspected unreported dengue cases emerging in certain parts of the city, MP Rajya Sabha Sanjeev Arora promptly called up the Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner, urging immediate fogging operations.

However, the MC Commissioner stated that it was too early for fogging and that a directive from the Civil Surgeon’s office was required to proceed. In response, Arora took up the matter with the Civil Surgeon of Ludhiana, who subsequently issued a letter instructing the MC Commissioner to commence fogging as a preventive measure against dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.

Following this, MC officials initiated fogging in multiple areas of the city, deploying 20 fogging machines for the drive. Typically, the fogging operation begins in late June or early July before the onset of the monsoon season. However, as a proactive measure to curb mosquito breeding, the civic body has launched the drive earlier this year.

“This initiative was the need of the hour to minimize suspected dengue cases,” said Arora, emphasizing the importance of early action in protecting public health.
