PHDCCI hosts ‘Business Beyond Borders – Africa Calling Amritsar’ to boost investment in Africa

The Punjab State Chapter of PHDCCI and International Affairs & Trade Fairs Division of PHDCCI, in association with ARISE IIP, successfully organized an interactive session on “Business Beyond Borders – Africa Calling Amritsar” at Hotel Courtyard by Marriott, Amritsar. The event aimed at fostering cross-border trade and investment by highlighting the vast manufacturing opportunities in Africa.

Welcoming the delegates, CA Jaideep Singh, Convener, Amritsar Zone, Punjab State Chapter of PHDCCI, emphasized the importance of enhancing trade ties between India and Africa, underlining the immense potential for mutual economic growth.

Delivering a keynote presentation, Vijay Shekhawat, Head, North India, ARISE IIP, provided valuable insights into Africa’s emerging markets, key sectors for investment, and the strategic advantages of expanding into the continent’s rapidly growing economy.

Amit Kaushik, ARISE IIP, reiterated Africa’s status as the “continent of the future,” noting that several nations, particularly in West and Central Africa, already engage in significant trade with India. He also outlined the various incentives and services offered by ARISE IIP to support Indian investors in establishing and scaling their businesses in Africa.

Speaking on the role of PHDCCI in facilitating international trade, Abhishek Banwara, Sr. Secretary, International Affairs, PHDCCI, highlighted key initiatives and partnerships that have strengthened Indo-African business relations.He underlined the growing opportunities for further collaboration between Indian and African enterprises.

The session was skillfully moderated by Sumit Kumar, Assistant Secretary, PHDCCI, who stressed the importance of international cooperation in today’s global economy.

Following the discussions, an open house session allowed participants to engage directly with representatives from ARISE IIP and PHDCCI, addressing their queries on investment prospects in Africa.

Additionally, an exclusive B2B networking session provided manufacturers an opportunity to explore potential investments in textiles and agro-processing, two sectors poised for significant growth in Africa.

Concluding the event, Nipun Aggarwal, Co-Convener, Amritsar Zone, Punjab State Chapter of PHDCCI, delivered a vote of thanks, reaffirming PHDCCI’s commitment to fostering cross-border business relations and creating pathways for Indian businesses to expand into international markets.

With over 60 industry leaders and key stakeholders in attendance, the event successfully underlined the promising investment avenues available in Africa and reinforced Amritsar’s role as a key player in India’s global trade expansion.
