MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has demanded a vigilance inquiry into the construction of the road from Amritsar to Fatehgarh Churian via Sangatpura. This road was completed just three months ago and now patch work is being done on it. MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is only wasting people’s money.
This road is also known as Comrade Shohan Singh Josh Marg. The Punjab government got this road constructed after 15 years. The road was widened from 18 to 33 feet. People got relief due to the construction of the new road. But now it is breaking down from many places.
MP Aujla said that Fatehgarh Churian Road is an important connecting road between Amritsar and Dera Baba Nanak city located near the India-Pakistan border. This 24 km long road connects Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts, due to which its rapid deterioration has become a matter of serious concern for thousands of commuters who depend on it daily. MP Aujla said that substandard material has been used in road construction. The layer of gravel-stone mixture is also not up to the standards. During road widening, electric poles and trees were not removed at many places.
Earlier, the condition of this road was bad. Due to this, many accidents used to happen. Many people also lost their lives. Now patch work is being done on the road. The MP says that this is a waste of public money. He has demanded that the responsible officials should be punished. A vigilance inquiry should be conducted and the government should fix accountability in this matter. He said that the government cannot waste public money like this, so it should take this matter seriously and answer the public.
