Khanna (Ludhiana), March 6

Continuing its crackdown on illegal properties owned by drug peddlers, the Khanna Police, in collaboration with Municipal Council authorities, demolished six structures in the local meat market on Thursday morning.

These properties were built by illegally encroaching on Municipal Council land and allegedly financed with drug money. The structures were occupied by six peddlers who are facing multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The demolition was carried out smoothly, with sufficient police personnel deployed to maintain order and prevent any disturbances.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jyoti Yadav led the operation and disclosed that the demolition came after the Municipal Council reported the illegal encroachments by six drug peddlers. She highlighted the two brothers, Aslam and Sunil, who are known as major drug peddlers in the area and are already facing five drug-related cases. Sunil Baba is currently in judicial custody, while Aslam is absconding. Other notorious smugglers, including Shindi, Mohendro, Pappu, and Gulshan, were also facing cases related to drug trafficking and illegal liquor trade.  Their illegal properties have been razed and the police teams are working round the clock to apprehend the absconding peddlers soon.

The SSP emphasized the commitment of the Punjab government, led by Bhagwant Singh Mann, to take strict action against those involved in the drug trade. She assured the public that no one would be spared until the drug menace is completely eradicated, pledging severe penalties for the peddlers. She also called for public cooperation in this fight against drugs.

Area residents also thanked the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government for taking strict action against drug peddlers.

Additionally, the Khanna police had frozen three properties belonging to drug peddlers in the Payal sub-division on Wednesday, SSP added.
