Ludhiana DC reviews preparations for Kila Raipur Rural Olympics scheduled from January 31 to February 2

Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal conducted a review of the preparations for the Kila Raipur Rural Olympics 2025 on Wednesday at the venue. The games will take place from January 31 to February 2, with Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond set to inaugurate the event on Friday at 1 PM.

For the second consecutive year, the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government is organizing the Rural Olympics.

On the first day of the games, the schedule includes the boys’ hockey match, followed by the girls’ hockey match, girls’ Kabbadi, volleyball, kho-kho, and the 1500-meter race for both genders, as well as the national-style girls’ Kabbadi match.  The opening day, January 31, will feature a musical performance by famous Punjabi singer Preet Harpal followed by Singers Virasat Sandhu on February 1 and Kulwinder Billa on February 2.

Jitendra Jorwal emphasized that the Punjab government is dedicated to fostering a sports culture within the state and is committed to reviving Punjab’s sports glory. He noted that while Punjab has an abundance of talent, there is a need to identify and nurture these skills, and the Rural Olympics will help in producing future champions.

Jorwal also assured that the district administration would make comprehensive arrangements to ensure a smooth experience for the participants and that there will be no inconveniences. He underscored the importance of these games to Punjab and instructed various departmental heads to ensure that all arrangements are in place.

The Deputy Commissioner encouraged the public to participate in large numbers to elevate the popularity of the games to new heights.
