Senior AAP leader Vineet Dhir was today elected as the Mayor of Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) with majority in the presence of all the newly elected councilors of the civic body here at Red Cross Bhawan, Jalandhar.
The name of Mr. Dhir was proposed by the two councillors amidst the thunderous applause by the other councilors. Meanwhile, Balbir Singh Dhillon was elected as Senior Deputy
Mayor of the MCJ. Likewise, Councilor Malkeet Singh was elected as Deputy Mayor of the MCJ after their
names were proposed by the councillors, followed by thumping consent from the majority.
AAP councilor Gurminder Singh acted as presiding officer of the elections.Earlier, Commissioner of Jalandhar Division Mr. Arun Sekhri administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected councilors. Commissioner of Muncipal Corporation Jalandhar Mr. Gautam Jain welcomed all the dignitaries.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat, MLAs Balkar Singh, Raman Arora, Pargat Singh, Bawa Hanery, and Sukhwinder Kotli.
