The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has apprehended a private person namely Amritpal alias Kaddu, resident of Maur in Bathinda district for accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 and demanding Rs 20000 more on behalf of officials of Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) posted at sub division office in Maur.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said above-mentioned accused has been arrested after an enquiry of online complaint lodged by Bhola Singh, a resident of village Ubha, in Mansa district.
He further informed that during the investigation of this complaint, it was found that the said accused, posing as authorised contractor of PSPCL, had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 35,000 on behalf of officials posted at PSPCL office in Maur in lieu of facilitating him to get installed a tubewell connection. During the probe it was also established that the accused had also demanded Rs 20000 more for this motive.
He further added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at VB Police Station, Range Bathinda and the said accused has been arrested. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
