Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has strongly condemned the recent attack on Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, describing it as a deliberate conspiracy to defame Punjab and its people. Mann praised the Punjab Police for their swift action in thwarting the attack and ensuring the assailant’s arrest on the spot.

The attack occurred on Tuesday morning at the Golden Temple, where Sukhbir Singh Badal was performing ‘Sewa’ outside the Darshani Deori as per orders of the Akal Takht. Badal was seated in a wheelchair, observing religious penance after being declared ‘Tankhayiya’ by the Akal Takht.
Narayan Singh Chaura, a hardliner known for his extremist ideologies, attempted to fire shots at Badal but was quickly subdued by alert Punjab Police personnel present at the scene. The timely intervention prevented a major incident and ensured the safety of all present.

Bhagwant Mann lauded the Punjab Police for their efficiency and described their actions as a “great success.” The Chief Minister revealed that he has instructed the police to conduct an immediate investigation into the matter and submit a detailed report at the earliest.

“Punjab Police prevented a major incident from happening today. As a result of the promptness of the Punjab Police, the conspiracy to defame Punjab and Punjabis has failed. The police achieved a great success by arresting the attacker on the spot with their promptness. I appreciate the promptness of the police, and I strongly condemn the attack on Sukhbir Badal ji. I have issued strict instructions to the police to immediately investigate this incident and submit a report.”
