President of the Youth Akali Dal (YAD), strongly condemned the incident where an Amritdhari Sikh was denied entry at Jhilmil Metro Station in Delhi for carrying a Kirpan (Sri Sahib), an essential article of Sikh faith.

“I strongly condemn the incident at Delhi’s Jhilmil Metro Station where an Amritdhari Sikh was denied entry for carrying a Kirpan. This is a clear violation of our democratic right to practice our faith,” Jhinjer said.

Jhinjer emphasized the significance of the Kirpan in Sikhism, stating, “Kirpan (Sri Sahib) is very sacred to us and is one of the 5 Kakaars given to us by Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. It’s not just a symbol of our faith, but also a reminder of our commitment to justice and protection of the innocent.”

Jhinjer demanded immediate action from the authorities, stating, “I demand that the AAM Aadmi Party-led Delhi govt and BJP-led Central government ensure that immediate action is taken against the erring officers and ensure that awareness is created amongst all security officers so that they respect the religious freedoms of all individuals.”

Jhinjer further emphasized, “Such incidents can create a sense alienation amongst the Sikh community, and it is our responsibility to ensure that such incidents do not recur.”

He further said, “Our constitution protects our right to follow and practice our faith and actions like these completely disregards those religious freedoms. Sikhs have sacrificed so much for the country and it’s saddening that we still have to face such treatment in our own country. I urge the metro authorities to ensure that the security protocols respect the religious freedoms of all individuals.”
