District Administration is fully geared up for holding Oath Taking Ceremony of newly elected Panches of District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, tomorrow, said Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain while taking stock of the ongoing preparations at Open Ground (SARAS Mela Ground), Sector 88, Near Manav Mangal School, Mohali.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Jain said that a total of 1924 Panches of the newly elected gram panchayats have been invited to take oath of office during this ceremony. A total of four seating blocks have been made for housing Panches from Mohali, Derabassi, Kharar and Majri Blocks tomorrow.
The oath of office would be administered by the PWD and Power Minister of Punjab Harbhajan Singh ETO at 11:00 AM on Tuesday she added. The Member of Legislative Assembly and other prominent persons have also been invited to witness the oath-taking ceremony.
She tasked the officers available there with various responsibilities for the smooth conduct of the prestigious event and asked them to check the seating, parking and other arrangements minutely.
The Deputy Commissioner said that after the administration of oath to the Sarpanches at the state level function held at Ludhiana, it was decided by the Punjab Government to hold an oath-taking ceremony for the Panches of the various districts at district level to make them responsible for the post they hold. She said that after the formal oath-taking, the Gram Panchayats would start formal functioning that would give a major push to the development works at the village level.
The officers present in the review meeting included ADC (G) Viraaj S Tidke, SDM Mohali Damandeep Kaur, SP (Traffic) H S Mann, Assistant Commissioner (General) Dr Ankita Kansal, District Development and Panchayat Officer Baljinder Singh Grewal and other officers.
